Thanksgiving is the celebration of giving thanks to people and remembering meaningful events that one is thankful for. The traditional way to celebrate Thanksgiving is to have a big lunch with all of your family members and friends. People either go visit family out of the country or city, they stay at home and have family visit them, or they go on a family vacation.
46% of the St. Andrew’s student population who responded to a Journalism survey stays at home during Thanksgiving and spends time with their family and friends.“I am going to stay at home, eat food, and spend time with my family,” Sophomore Annabelle Mak said. Sometimes, having the best time at Thanksgiving is spending time with your loved ones and eating lots of food. Many people also snuggle up in bed, watch a bunch of movies and series, and catch up on their sleep.
While many people stay at home, others go out of the country to see new places. 30% of the survey responders travel during Thanksgiving break. St. Andrew’s offers a couple of Global Studies trips during the break where many students go. “I will be traveling with the school to Germany, and spending time with classmates,” Junior Rudra Patel said. Many students are also going out of the country to try new food, go black Friday shopping, and go skiing, canoeing, etc. “ I am going to go to Canada to explore around,” Sophomore Morgan Lee said.
Other students travel to visit family that live out of the country. They enjoy seeing long distance relatives that they haven’t seen all year, and being able to spend time with them, and catching up on events. “I love spending time with my family and friends,” Mak said.
