The three most watched TV series in 2024 were Bridgerton Season 3 which was averaging 91. 9 million viewers globally, Fool Me Once Season 1 with 107. 5 million viewers, and Queen of Tears Season 1 with 29. 2 million viewers. “I agree with Bridgerton,” Sophomore Sarah Dial Almand said, “but I don’t know about the other two.”
People need interesting storylines to hook them into a TV show. “I look for a little bit of everything, some comedy, action, romance.” Junior Emma Rose Lehner said, “ I like for a show to have a mix of a lot of different genres, and a lot of different characters, a lot of things happening and all sorts of stuff that will keep me interested.” A lot of people are drawn to crime shows and reality TV shows. “It is more realistic,” Almand said, “and it can relate more to real life everyday activities unlike fictional stories.” Another reason could also be the drama shared in those genres, especially reality TV, which causes people to be more invested in the show.
Many people have all-time favorite shows whose new sequels came out in 2024. I feel like Outer Banks is really good,” Lehner says, “because I love all the characters, there’s always a lot of action happening, and they keep the storyline interesting.” Outer Banks season 4 is full of adventure, action, and drama. Each episode ends with a dramatic cliffhanger that leaves people hanging and wanting to know more. Netflix only came out with 4 episodes on October 10, and left people hanging with an enormous cliffhanger, and then released the rest of the 4 episodes November 7. People loved the anticipation, which made the show more popular and loved.
People usually do not like watching shows over a few days or weeks. “I tell myself, I’m going to watch it like one time a week,” Lehner said, “but then I end up binge watching.” It is hard to watch a show that you like over a few days or weeks because The series is interesting, and viewers just want to keep on watching.
Some shows that could be overrated are Riverdale according to Lehner, and TV shows that are like drawn out according to Almand. There are not many shows that seem to be underrated, “TV shows that are good are going to get good ratings.”
An international show that is loved by many and is ranking #1 in 120 states is Maxton Hall. “It is German,” Lehner said, “and it was really good, because the characters were really amazing.”
People love watching interesting TV shows in their free time, and there were many new shows that came out in 2024 for people to binge watch all day. “I love watching TV shows when I am bored,” Lehner said. “It helps me pass time”
