The Shoe Market

The shoe market is now bigger than ever at $88.47 billion in the United States, and a new year brings new shoe announcements and drops. Nike is one of the biggest shoe brands in the world, with revenue reaching $18.75 billion in 2022. Millions of people look forward to their new releases due to not only their high demand but because of their sleek look as well. Nike is known for making fashionable shoes for everyone that meet all types of needs. Their shoes range from running to skateboarding and often retail at affordable prices. This is why they sell about 25 sneakers every second of the day. Nike also often releases many new styles of shoes every month so that they can keep up with what customers may want and need. With it being such a popular company there are, of course, many Nike fans in the SA community.

Lots of students are excited about new Nike shoes that are being released within the next month. “I’m looking forward to getting the Kevin Durant “B.A.D” 15s and the Dunk Blue Canvas,” Freshman Alleah Paulding said. Dunks were first released in 1985 and became an instant hit for people worldwide. “Those are some cool basketball shoes and the dunks that are about to come out.” KD 15s were released earlier this year and sold out fairly quickly. The purple colorway had many, like Paulding, excited to get them. The dunks will be released soon and are set to do well too. As their name states, these dunks are blue with a textured Nike swoosh. These comfortable, stylish shoes come in many different colorways and are made for everyone.

However, there are still some people that do not favor what Nike releases. Senior J.C. Cook had very strong opinions about the Peaceminusone x Nike Kwondo 1 Panda. “I don’t like it because they’re trying to reuse Pandas.” One of Nike’s most notable dunks is “Panda” due to their simple black and white colorway, with the new shoes sharing a similar look. “It’s too many different materials being used incorrectly and the sole is chunky and arched,” Cook said. With so many hits, it is often hard to notice the misses that may appear within the brand.
